About MRC

One small dump truck and a passion for service

That's how Metropolitan Removal started in 1984. Forty years later we're one of eastern Massachusetts' leading interior demolition and disposal contractors — still family-owned, still run from Bellingham, still answering our own phone.

We're large enough to handle any project, but you get the attention to detail, competitive rates, and straight answers that come with a small company. From your first call through job completion, the goal is simple: expectations met, then exceeded.

When the pandemic hit, we started the MRC Helping Communities Program — giving dumpsters, free of charge, to neighbors who needed a hand. That's the kind of company we try to be.

FAQ

Straight answers

What size dumpster do I need?

The 15-yard (14' × 8' × 4.5') handles basement, garage, or attic cleanouts and small construction projects. The 30-yard (18' × 8' × 6.5') is for large construction jobs and major cleanouts. Not sure? Describe the job when you call and we'll size it for you.

How does pricing work?

Three ways, depending on the job: firm bid pricing for demolition and cleanouts (one number, no guesswork), flat rates plus disposal tonnage for containers, and hourly billing for labor and Bobcat work. Estimates are free and sent promptly.

What can't go in the dumpster?

Hazardous items — paint cans, motor oil, asbestos, electrical transformers, PCBs — can't go in at all. Some items ride along for a disposal surcharge set by the dump: refrigerators and AC units ($55), old TVs ($55), tires ($30–55), mattresses and sofas ($75–125). See the pricing section for the full list.

How fast can you get here?

We respond promptly to every inquiry, and smaller removals are often done the same day you call. Containers are scheduled around your job — tell us your dates and we'll be there.

Do you recycle?

Yes — it's a point of pride. We run dedicated recycling dumpsters for scrap metal, appliances, light bulbs, wood and brush, and concrete, brick, and asphalt. Separating recyclables can also lower your disposal cost.

Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?

No — as long as our driver has clear access to the drop spot, we can deliver and pick up while you're out. Just keep the container accessible (nothing parked in front, nothing loaded above the sides, under 24,000 lbs).

Is MRC licensed and insured?

Fully. MRC is licensed and insured for demolition, roll-off container, and property cleanup work throughout Massachusetts, and has been since 1984.

What's the tarp for?

A $25 tarp (yours to keep) covers your container to keep rain and snow out — wet debris weighs more, and you pay disposal by the ton. It also keeps neighbors from tossing their junk into your dumpster.
